Second-Hand (2023) accompanied and
outlived my final year exhibition at NCAD. The
book depicts a movement between personal
objects and public spaces; collections and
institutions. Images are aligned with each
other with a referential intention, their
compositions mirrored while the content
differs. The texts within are that of my own
and others - spanning genres in an effort to
emphasise intertextuality. Included are
conceptual artist Ilya Kabakov, singer-
songwriter and frontwoman of the band The
Weather Station; Tamara Lindeman, and
theorist and poet Susan Stewart, whose quote
formed the bridge between the worlds these
texts grapple with - that of personal objects
and public space. The transcribed text of a
mindfulness course calls attention to this
oscillation between big and small.
